11th CAPE TOWN INTERNATIONAL PEACE CONFERENCE
In the midst of local, continental and global political challenges and leadership changes, the focus on uniting our efforts for Peace and Development and the importance of values, universal, Olympic and Paralympic Values and global governance has become paramount. We believe that sport and PE, development and peace as well as Olympism, which is “To place sport at the service of the harmonious development of humankind, with a view to promoting a peaceful society concerned with the preservation of human dignity” should be supported, as they contain a vision from which we all can learn and to which we shall all aspire to. The upcoming 11th International Cape Town Sport and Peace Conference, 18-19 September 2024 will follow the Paris 2024 International Olympic Education, Sport and Peace Conference, 25 July 2024 as well as a decade of successful and interactive Sport and Peace Roundtables, globally and the hosting of 10 years of the International Sport and Peace Conference in Cape Town, South Africa seeking to promote sport, recreation and peace worldwide. The conference will have an interactive format and in view of Paris 2024 the 11th International Cape Town Sport and Peace Conference, 18-19 September 2024 will address the key themes of– Olympism, Partnerships, Values Education & Peace
– Inclusion, Mental Health and Wellbeing
– Sport, Safeguarding and Anti-bullying
– Youth, Partnerships and Skills Development
The Conference also has a strong focus on the youth with the objective of linking with schools, NGOs and federations to include youth in sport and peace initiatives through Olympic and Paralympic values education, anti-bullying training, positive sports role models and partnerships.
